POSITION OVERVIEW

The HR Generalist acts as a business partner on human resource related matters including, but not limited to, work force planning, recruitment, performance management, employee relations, training, and special projects. Assists in the administration and implementation of human resources policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee booklets, communications, and/or meetings. Prepares reports in conformance with legislated requirements or organizational needs. Hours for this position are typically 9am-6pm to provide HR support for all shifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

* Communicates, implements, and interprets HR policies and practices to ensure fair and consistent administration. Observes and analyzes the execution of practices, identifies problem areas, and recommends changes
* Overall accountability for the recruiting and hiring responsibilities and procedures
* Oversees the development and implementation of training programs; provides training assessment, planning, and program delivery as necessary
* Promotes and strengthens employee relations by actively listening and appropriately responding to employee concerns in a timely manner and by initiating proactive and effective processes; Provides effective advice and counseling to supervisors on all matters involving employee relations.
* Contributes to employee morale by developing employee recognition programs and coordinating employee events
* Manages Affirmative Action Plan and all required updates, reporting and documentation
* Manages documentation requirements for company new hires including all necessary paperwork to assure compliance with corporate, federal and state requirements
* Manages and processes unemployment claims and related documentation
* Creates an environment which fosters employee involvement, diversity and equal opportunity
* Demonstrates strong initiative, project management skills, and an attention to detail while maintaining a high degree of accuracy in a high volume, fast paced, dynamic, team environment
* Communicates, collaborates, and networks with all levels of employees and management (HR colleagues, in particular), and ensures the integrity and quality of all information produced
* Manage Labor Relations, conflict resolutions, grievance process, agreements/contracts
* Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE OR QUALIFICATIONS

* Bilingual in Spanish a plus
* Minimum of 4 years of experience in HR (or combination of education and experience)
* Good working knowledge of HR and employment law
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Intermediate to advanced skill with Microsoft Office Suite
* Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
* Experience working with sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of integrity and judgment
* Labor Relations experience (Union Environment)
* Must be able to travel to other company locations (Marietta, GA, Dearborn, MI)
* PHR desired
