Position Summary Information Basic Function

The mission of the Department of Human Resources is to promote the Colleges mission through policies, procedures and collaborative efforts to ensure effective recruitment and retention of a qualified workforce and ensure accurate, on-time pay and administration of benefits program. This position ensures that all services, programs, employee development, benefits, policies procedures, personnel actions and pay practices are administered fairly, consistently, equitably and within the
parameters of the law

Duties and Responsibilities

This position will provide general administrative support to the Department of Human Resources, including reception, front-line assistance, records management, filing, employment verifications, scanning documents, and general clerical duties. This position is responsible for maintaining and managing all Human Resources records, including official employee records, (paper and electronic), recruitment files, and other related records. The position will also be responsible for retaining and destroying records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
This position will maintain electronic and hard copy HR-related records and collect, organize, scan, and file documents into the filing systems. The position is responsible for reviewing and scanning documents into an electronic database, indexing scanned documents, and reviewing previously scanned records for image quality assurance and integrity of the HR records

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent applicable experience or training
Previous office experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Image Now
Previous experience working in an HR setting
Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginias records management policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic to intermediate knowledge of Human Resources practices, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of basic office protocols and procedures. Knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Outlook. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work efficiently and effectively with co-workers, colleagues across the College and general public. Strong organizational and time management skills; committed to accuracy and attention to detail; excellent at follow-through and meeting deadlines. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to participate in a team setting that encourages both individual and team accomplishments; ability to establish goals; and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Previous records management and/or document imaging experience is preferred

The selected candidates offer is contingent upon the successful completion of an extensive criminal background
investigation, which may include: fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, verification of
