Prestigious, independent local paint store is seeking aTerritorySales Representative to penetrate commercial/industrial accounts.

Position consists of making both cold and warm sales calls, setting appointments, presenting products, programs and meeting a sales quota in the Bronx and Queens.

This position will be responsible for growing a paint sales territory that focuses on multiple market segments. In this position, you will secure new commercial accounts while maintaining existing customer accounts.

Outside sales representatives must be able to establish and maintain good relationships with clients in their designated sales areas; they must offer their clients a great deal of support and gain their trust, as this may lead to potential future sales.

Essential Functions

  • Drive sales growth by prospecting and forming new relationships, generate leads, and qualify leads within respective territory to drive additional sales opportunities through cold-calling both in-person and on the phone.
  • Grow paint sales territory that focuses primarily on contractors, property managements and non-traditional end users ( carting companies, industrial facility managers, etc.)
  • Create new coatings and commercial paint sales in different market segments
  • Track activity, prepare and maintain records for sales leads and account status
  • Utilize business intelligence on prospects to support sales initiatives and drive new business
  • Sell the organization's products or services new prospects within assigned territory
  • Analyze territory sales performance reports and develop strategic territory business plans to support growth
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales
  • Work with in-store staff and management to develop sales strategies
  • Build relationships and identify the prospect's need for the products or services
  • Maintain good relationships with accounts in designated sales areas
  • Offer clients support and gain their trust, to build pipeline for future sales
  • Must possess excellent social skills and ability to close sales
  • Resilient with the ability to attain sales goals on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Preferred Skills

  • Must be willing to work all scheduled hours and required overtime, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Industry or related industrial knowledge
  • Proven results in selling and relationship building in retail operations and contractor segment sales
  • PC literate, analytical, time management/prioritization skills
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with and influence a wide array of personality types from diverse backgrounds
  • Highly flexible; able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be able to handle confidential information with complete confidence of management
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed when interacting with external and internal personnel.
  • 5+ years outside sales experience
  • Paint and Coatings experience a plus
  • College degree preferred but not necessary
  • Bilingual/Spanish a plus
  • Valid and clean driver's license is necessary
