UW System Human Resources is the strategic partner to the UW System Administration and its 26 institutions. Position Summary: Major Responsibilities:
The Senior Compensation Analyst role provides technical, analytical and program administration support to the University of Wisconsin Systems Title and Total Compensation Program. Reporting to the Director of Benefits, this role will support the departments objectives to ensure that the compensation programs are competitive and managed equitably to support the UW Systems objectives to recruit, retain and engage staff members. This professional will serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of compensation program and job classification administration to support human resource directors across the UW System.

The Senior Compensation Analyst will perform the following duties:
Identifies, participates and contributes to established market compensation surveys and develops/ implements custom surveys to support market gaps in various job families, as appropriate.
Conducts market compensation analysis (i.e., base salary and bonus, where appropriate) and prepares recommendations requiring a broad understanding of compensation techniques, methods, and practices.
Manages salary survey submissions, results, and conducts comprehensive market studies to gauge the UW Systems competitive market position.
Supports UW System human resource directors in evaluating requests for new positions, in alignment with the design and policies of the UW Systems Title and Total Compensation Structure.
Maintains the Title and Total Compensation Structure of job families and continually benchmarks for best practices. Recommends refinements to the design based on experience utilizing the Program.
Collaborates, as appropriate, in the planning, coordination, facilitation, administration, and reporting of the annual salary review program for UW System Administration.
Recommends adjustments to the salary structure based on industry market practices and budgetary guidelines of the UW System.
Collaborates with UW institutions on compensation issues that arise from supporting faculty and staff.
Reviews existing and proposed legislation and statutory requirements governing compensation and recommends appropriate courses of action.
Contributes to the development, writing, editing, and modification of operating pay policies, guidelines, and procedures, as appropriate.
Assists with determining appropriate Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) determinations.
Develops communications and training materials related to compensation programs.
Participates in special projects as needed.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
At least three to five years of experience in compensation administration.
Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
Knowledge of compensation administration principles and procedures.
Knowledge of job analysis and job evaluation principles, methods and procedures.
Knowledge of federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations.
Substantial interpersonal skills to interact with employees and management at all levels in problem resolution.
Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Power Point.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Well-qualified applicants will also have a substantial amount of experience in a combination of the following:
Ability to serve as an expert compensation specialist for UW System Administration, as well as the UW System institutions.
Advanced knowledge of statistical techniques and computer applications (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing and databases) used in compensation management.
CCP and/or PHR certification.
